On September 10, our mountain community was shaken in ways we never imagined. The tragedy at Evergreen High School has brought heartbreak, grief, and questions no one should ever have to wrestle with. And yet, even in the heaviness, I’ve seen sparks of light...neighbors holding each other close, strangers offering comfort, and businesses stepping up to love our town in action.

One of those sparks is Buffalo Mountain Print + Supply, owned by Shawn and Laura - a local family who’ve even woven their three kids into the heart of their business. They’re the ones behind the Evergreen Strong shirts. These shirts aren’t just fabric and ink - they’re a way of wrapping our arms around the hurting, of standing together when words don’t feel like enough. Funds raised are going to Resilience 1220 and the #EvergreenStrong Community Recovery Fund.

When I stopped in to pick up a few shirts, the room was filled with a quiet determination. Each shirt carries weight and meaning, like a prayer for healing pressed into cotton. As a person of faith, I believe God meets us in the middle of pain, and He uses community to help carry what feels too heavy to bear alone. My prayer is that these shirts become more than a fundraiser - that they become reminders of resilience, of hope, and of the light that can still shine in the darkest places.

How You Can Help

If you’ve been wondering how to support, here are some meaningful ways to step in:

  • Deliver shirts! Shawn & Laura could use help getting shirts delivered, reach out to them via Facebook or Instagram message, or by email: howdy@buffalomountainapparel.com
  • Donate directly to Resilience 1220 or the #EvergreenStrong Community Recovery Fund to continue supporting mental health resources and recovery efforts.
  • Show up for local families—whether that’s bringing a meal, sending a note, or offering quiet presence. Sometimes the smallest gestures carry the most weight.
  • Pray for healing in our schools, our families, and our community. If faith is a part of your life, lean into it.

Keep telling the story of unity, strength, and compassion. The more we share, the more we remind each other that no one is walking through this alone.

Evergreen is strong. Rooted in love, held together in faith, and moving forward one step at a time - together.
